About

A postdoctoral (“Research Scientist”) position in the above topics is open within Thomas Johann Seebeck Department of Electronics at Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn, Estonia. The post is funded by the prestigious European Research Area Chair project “Cognitive Electronics (COEL)”. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (or about to complete) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or in a relevant field. Strong research experience in routing protocols and real-time deployment is essential. Networks simulator experience is a significant advantage. Familiarity with multiple radio access technologies such as WiFi, BLE, NB-IoT would be an advantage. Candidates should have experience in publishing research findings in impact international journals and reputable conference proceedings.

The key-ideas for the research activities are as follows; i) to propose and implement a new network connectivity aware routing protocol for D2D communication in an indoor environment, and ii) to propose innovative and novel disruptive tolerant routing techniques for cognitive networks. The environment could be based on multi-hop communication using heterogeneous smart devices (such as mobile phones, watches, sensor, cameras, etc.) and communication technologies (LTE, Bluetooth, WiFi etc.).

The candidate will be responsible for conducting research and possibly mentoring of BSc, MSc and PhD students in research projects.
